2024/25
String Quartet Commission Project
We are so excited to introduce our first-ever commissioning project. In collaboration with Dr. Eric Alexander and the Boise State University Department of Composition, Thirdspace Quartet will commission, workshop, perform, and record a brand new string quartet from an emerging composer.
One composer will be selected through a call-for-scores. A simple application will be available to all BSU students beginning October 1, 2024. Applications close October 25, 2024.
Applications for the 2024/25 commission are now closed. We’re excited to share updates as this project develops!
About
A newly commissioned string quartet will explore 'People & Place' in Boise, Idaho.
People & Place
The project will include:

A commission of an original piece for string quartet inspired by the topics “People & Place” as they might pertain to Boise, Idaho from the selected composer;
Two in-person workshops with the selected composer;
Two public performances of the commissioned work as part of a complete State of the Art concert program;
An audio and video recording of the commissioned work.
